Expanding Libraries

DOUBLING THE BNL COLLECTION

Through a combination of physical books and E-books, the BNL significantly increased its collection to approximately double the current capacity. With iPads and Kindles, the new E-book Centre provides unprecedented access to the expanded collection as well as to worldwide magazines and newspapers.  The BNL works closely with partners, CedarBridge Academy and The Reading Clinic, to increase library membership and participation among students and to train teachers and tutors on use of the new technology.

ACCELERATED READER LIBRARY

The creation of an Accelerated Reader (“AR”) Library allows CedarBridge Academy to increase its AR book collection from 128 to more than 2,000 books.  The new AR collection serves reading levels from AR Grade 5 through AR Grade 14 and includes more than 200 E-books.  This major expansion of AR material ensures that students have access to sufficient, appropriate reading material to challenge themselves and help them reach their reading goals.

E-BOOK CENTRES THROUGH PARTNERS

Partner organisations are launching E-book Centres equipped with state-of-the-art iPads and Kindles.  These iPads and Kindles, as E-book readers, support access to the BNL’s expanded library collection.  The partnership also coordinate technical training for staff and access across all three institutions.
